Heim joints are also known as rod ends. There’s a lot of different versions of these leases by SYZ Machine. There’s other companies out there that make them but SYZ is probably one of the best that you can get. There are really high-end rod ends and there’s kind of low buck cheap versions that aren’t going to last very long.
There are different grades which depends on how tight it is, how well it’s sealed and how much it will flex. Some Rod Ends have the misalignment integrated right into the ball. This is the type of stuff you see on the big dollar race cars, the trophy trucks, and the unlimited class buggies.
The Jonny joint and a bushing has a little bit of cushion in there. But Rod Ends are solid and usually don’t have any cushion. You can choose suspension joints according to what you’re using, what’s you’re building and what your budget is.
There’s a lot of different options on what you’re building. There isn’t a correct way to do it. For instance, you are going to drive down the street. If the suspension is really harsh and it’s transmitting a lot of noise or a lot of clunking. Is that going to drive you nuts or do you want to have bushings that are nice and soft. Or bushings a little bit harder or some sort of flex joint Johnny joint.
