Why You Need Tubing (DOM / Chromoly)?
High-quality structural tubing serves as the fundamental building block for fabricating custom mechanical linkages, suspension arms, and chassis frames. DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) and Chromoly tubing offer superior strength, dimensional consistency, and safety critical for high-stress applications compared to standard pipe.
Provide Superior Structural Strength
Unlike standard hardware-store pipe intended for fluids, structural tubing is engineered with high yield strength to safely withstand extreme mechanical loads, bending forces, and impacts in critical applications like suspension and roll cages.
Ensure Uniform Precision and Consistency
The manufacturing process (especially DOM) ensures uniform wall thickness and a smooth internal finish, which is crucial for precise machining, tapping internal threads, or snugly fitting tube adapters.
Achieve High Strength-to-Weight Ratio
Particularly with 4130 Chromoly, fabricators can utilize thinner-walled tubing to build components that are incredibly strong yet significantly lighter than those made from mild steel.
Form the Reliable Foundation for Fabrication
These materials are designed for weldability and ease of fabrication, acting as the trusted raw material for creating custom tie rods, control arms, drag links, and chassis bracing.
Resist Fatigue and Cyclic Loading
They are engineered with metallurgy designed to withstand repetitive stress cycles and vibration without developing fatigue cracks, ensuring long-term durability in dynamic environments like racing or off-road use.
Our Tubing Advantages
DOM Strength for Superior Durability
The DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) process eliminates weld seams, creating a smooth, uniform wall thickness. This results in a strength far greater than regular welded tubing, making it ideal for high-performance applications.
4130 Chromoly for Maximum Strength-to-Weight Ratio
We offer genuine 4130 chromoly steel tubing, renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. It’s the material of choice for race car roll cages, ensuring both strength and lightness.
Precise Sizing for Perfect Fitment
With precise tolerances for both outer and inner diameters, our tubing fits perfectly with our Tube Adapters and Bushing Sleeves, eliminating the need for additional grinding or adjustments during welding.
Custom Cut for Efficiency and Cost Savings
We offer custom cutting services, so you don’t need to buy a full 20-foot length. This helps save on shipping costs and material waste, providing you with exactly what you need for your project.
FAQs
Q1: What is the maximum length you can ship?
Due to shipping restrictions, we typically ship lengths up to 6-8 feet. However, for bulk shipments via sea freight, there are no length restrictions.
Q2: What wall thickness is recommended for tie rods?
For off-road tie rods, we recommend a minimum wall thickness of .250″ (6.35mm) to prevent bending or damage when hitting rocks.
Q3: Do I have to TIG weld 4130 chromoly?
While TIG welding is strongly recommended, depending on the thickness of the tubing, heat treatment after welding may also be necessary for optimal strength.
Q4: Is DOM tubing seamless?
DOM tubing technically has a seam but is cold-drawn to the point where it’s nearly invisible. Its strength is almost equivalent to seamless tubing. We also offer true seamless tubing.
Q5: Is the tubing surface treated?
Our tubing is typically coated with oil for rust prevention. Please ensure that you grind and clean the surface before welding.
Q6: What payment terms do you accept?
We accept T/T, PayPal (for samples), and L/C for large orders. For new customers, 30% deposit and 70% before shipment is standard.
