Why You Need Spherical Plain Bearings?
Spherical plain bearings are essential components in mechanical systems where complex movements and heavy loads are present. They are designed to accommodate angular misalignment and facilitate oscillating or tilting motion far better than conventional bearings.
Accommodate and Compensate for Misalignment
These bearings feature a spherical sliding surface, allowing them to freely pivot and compensate for significant angular deviations between the shaft and housing. This capability is critical for preventing premature failure due to edge stresses caused by installation errors or shaft deflection under load.
Withstand Heavy Static and Dynamic Loads
Due to their large contact area and robust construction, spherical plain bearings can safely transmit extremely high radial and axial forces, including substantial static loads and sudden shock impacts. They are indispensable in high-stress applications like construction and mining equipment.
Facilitate Slow Oscillating and Tilting Movements
They are specifically engineered for applications involving high loads at low speeds, combined with constant oscillating (swiveling) or tilting motion. Unlike rolling element bearings, this sliding contact design ensures reliable function in reciprocating or control linkages such as hydraulic cylinders.
Offer Low Maintenance or Maintenance-Free Operation
Many modern spherical plain bearings use self-lubricating materials, such as PTFE composites, which significantly reduce or eliminate the need for relubrication. This translates into reduced operational costs, lower downtime, and improved reliability over the bearing’s service life.
Ensure Compact Design and Tolerance to Contamination
The simple, robust structure of these bearings allows for a relatively compact design while maintaining high load capacity. Furthermore, they are less sensitive to environmental contaminants like dust and moisture compared to precision rolling bearings, making them ideal for outdoor and dirty environments.
Diverse Applications
Spherical plain bearings are widely utilized in critical pivot points subjected to heavy loads, complex kinematics (oscillation, tilting), and inherent misalignment. This spans handling the immense shock loads in hydraulic cylinders and linkages in Construction and Mining equipment, supporting massive structures in Civil Engineering (bridges/dams), and ensuring precise, reliable control in Aerospace and High-Performance Automotive steering and suspension systems, serving as indispensable components in harsh and high-reliability demanding environments.
Our Spherical Plain Bearings Advantages
Race-Grade Precision
Our spherical plain bearings feature exceptional ball roundness and surface finish. Even under high-speed compression or hard landings, they maintain precise suspension geometry with zero binding.
High Load-to-Weight Ratio
Compact in size yet capable of handling extreme radial loads, these bearings are ideal for tight-space, high-stress locations such as shock mounts and Uni-ball control arm upgrades.
Multiple Material Options
Choose from 52100 bearing steel, stainless steel, and PTFE-lined versions. Whether you need maximum strength or corrosion resistance, we provide the right material for your application.
Easy to Fabricate & Customize
Standard COM-series sizes paired with our machinable bearing cups allow shops to weld, mount, and build custom suspension links with ease and precision.
Our Spherical Plain Bearings Advantages
Rich Experience
With extensive expertise in rod ends, we are equally skilled in spherical plain bearing production, as their mechanical principles are very similar.
Diverse Supply Chain
We have 38 supplier factories, enabling us to fully customize spherical plain bearings in various materials and types based on your needs.
Low MOQ
Due to our mature production lines, we can offer competitive pricing and produce as few as 50 units.

FAQs
Q1: What materials can I customize for spherical plain bearings?
- Outer ring: Alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, 52100 bearing steel
- Sliding surface: Steel-on-steel, reinforced nylon, PTFE, bronze
- Inner ring: 52100 bearing steel (most common), carbon steel, stainless steel
Q2: Do your bearings come with PTFE liners, or are they metal-to-metal?
We offer both options. For suspension use, we strongly recommend PTFE-lined bearings for self-lubrication and vibration damping. Metal-to-metal versions are available for industrial applications requiring grease lubrication.
Q3: Can these bearings be used for Uni-ball upper control arm upgrades?
Absolutely. Our COM-series bearings (such as COM10T and COM12T) are the most commonly used specifications in Uni-ball conversion kits and are strong enough for aggressive off-road jumps.
Q4: Can the bearings be welded directly during installation?
The bearing itself must NOT be welded. It should be pressed into a weldable bearing cup, then secured using snap rings or staking depending on your setup.
Q5: Do you offer staking services or tools?
Our bearings include V-grooves for easy staking. We can supply the appropriate bearing cups, but for staking tools, we recommend consulting your local machining or fabrication shop.
Q6: What if sand gets inside the bearing?
High-quality PTFE-lined bearings have tight tolerances that resist sand intrusion. For harsh desert conditions, we recommend using our high-misalignment sealed spacers to protect the bearing from contaminants.
Q7: Do you offer high misalignment spherical bearings?
Yes, we offer high misalignment spherical bearings. We have both standard models in stock and can also customize based on your requirements.
Q8: Can I request a sample for the spherical plain bearing before placing a bulk order?
Yes, you can request a sample before placing a bulk order. Samples of stock spherical plain bearings are free of charge, but you will need to cover the shipping cost. For customized bearings, a mold fee will apply.
Q9: What’s your average lead time for production?
Most standard models ship within 7–15 days. For custom orders, lead time will be confirmed after evaluating your specs and quantity.
Q10: Can you label my brand on the spherical bearings or packaging?
Yes, we support laser engraving on the bearings and custom packaging with logo labels or barcodes. Ideal for brand distributors.
Q11: What payment terms do you accept?
We accept T/T, PayPal (for samples), and L/C for large orders. For new customers, 30% deposit and 70% before shipment is standard.
