Forged Flex Joint Bushings — Polyurethane Insulated
Forged Poly Bushings
Forged poly bushings are the rebuildable bushing assemblies for flex-joint suspension — a forged steel body with a polyurethane bushing and steel sleeve that isolates vibration while allowing articulation. SYZ offers them in carbon steel (CBS) and 4130 chromoly (XBS), thread 5/8″–1-1/4″, bore 0.500″–0.750″, 22 sizes, with OEM customization.

Product Concept
What Is a Forged Poly Bushing?
A forged poly bushing is a complete flex-joint housing assembly: a forged steel shank body holding a polyurethane bushing over a carbon-steel inner sleeve.
The polyurethane material provides compliant, vibration-damping articulation — firmer and more durable than traditional rubber, yet much more compliant than a rigid spherical metal bearing. This makes it the ideal vibration-isolating link pivot in performance suspension rods.
System Synergy: Working as a complete replacement pivot insert for rebuildable flex joints, when the polyurethane insert wears out from high-cycle off-road travel, you press in a new bushing while reusing the forged steel body.
Specifications
Dimensions & Range
| Series Type | Body Material | Thread Diameter Range | Inner Sleeve Bore Range | Total Configurations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CBS Series | Forged Carbon Steel | 5/8″ to 1-1/4″ UNF | 0.500″ to 0.875″ | Economy standard sizing |
| XBS Series | Heat-Treated 4130 Chromoly | 5/8″ to 1-1/4″ UNF | 0.500″ to 0.875″ | Heavy-duty off-road specs |
CBS uses carbon steel for general industrial linkages or budget-conscious setups. XBS uses 4130 heat-treated chromoly for high-load off-road links. Pair these with rebuildable flex joints to complete your system.
Material Selection
Why Polyurethane Over Rubber?
Understand the mechanical tradeoffs of suspension isolation materials.
Stiffer Than Rubber
Resists deflection and wallowing under cornering and acceleration loads. Holds suspension geometry alignment lines much more reliably.
Quieter Than Metal Bearings
Dampens high-frequency chassis noise and vibrations (NVH) that sealed rod ends transmit directly into the passenger cabin.
Extended Durability
Highly resistant to oil, road salt, ozone, and grease. Polyurethane won’t dry-rot or tear under extreme axle articulation.
Applications
Where Forged Poly Bushings Perform
Proven vibration-isolating pivots for high-travel suspension systems.
Flex Joint Rebuilds
