Coating

Coating adds a protective or appearance layer over a prepared surface. The strongest documented in-network route is at our affiliated Taixing production base, where a spray-coating line and Q378 shot-blasting machines support structural and fabricated work. The exact coating chemistry, thickness and cure method are confirmed per order.

01 / Process fundamentals

What Is Coating?

Coating places a protective, functional or decorative layer over a prepared component surface. Depending on the material and specification, the coating may be sprayed, cured or otherwise applied after the part has been machined, formed, welded or cleaned.

Surface preparation is part of the process. Shot blasting can remove scale, rust or contamination and create a consistent profile for the coating to adhere to. Masking, edge condition, drain paths and cure requirements then influence the finished result.

Coating is different from plating and anodizing. Plating deposits a metal layer; anodizing grows an oxide layer on aluminium; coating puts a separate protective layer over the substrate. The correct route depends on the material, environment, appearance and fit.

02 / Finish selection

Coating vs Plating vs Anodizing

Finish familyWhere it fitsMain design questions
Spray or powder coatingFabricated steel, tubes, brackets and larger structural surfacesSurface preparation, colour, masking, thickness, cure and edge coverage
PlatingSteel hardware or defined working surfaces such as a bearing ballPlating type, thickness, corrosion or wear function, thread and bore fit
AnodizingAluminium parts where colour and an oxide finish are requiredAlloy, colour, finish type, masking and dimensional effect
The practical rule: start with the substrate and service environment. A steel tube, a 52100 bearing ball and a 7075-T6 aluminium rod end should not be given the same default finish.

Affiliated Taixing base

Prepare, fabricate, coat

The base has 1 spray-coating line and 2 Q378 shot-blasting machines alongside laser cutting, punching, bending and robotic welding capability. Coating can therefore follow the fabrication sequence for structural OEM work and documented product finish options.

Ningbo and external finishing

Our own Ningbo facility and affiliated Wuxi base do not present the same documented coating-line profile. Where a product or order requires a coating outside the Taixing route, the external partner and process controls are confirmed during drawing review.

What Coating Makes Possible

01

Structural steel assemblies

Prepared and coated tubes, brackets, clevises and chassis parts gain a defined surface system for their service environment.

02

Fabrication sequence control

When coating follows cutting, bending and robotic welding at one affiliated base, the route can be reviewed as a connected fabrication sequence.

03

Documented finish options

Current product specifications include black powder-coated and other powder-coating finish options on selected tube and structural product families.

04

Surface preparation

Shot blasting provides a preparation step before coating where the material and surface condition call for it.

Finish boundary: the current capability record identifies a spray-coating line, but does not publish one universal coating chemistry, thickness range or cure method. Those details are confirmed per order.

06 / Quality control

How Coated Parts Are Controlled

The control plan follows the substrate, preparation method, coating system and the appearance or performance requirement of the order.

01

Surface preparation

Scale, contamination, edge condition and areas to mask are reviewed before blasting or coating begins.

02

Process documentation

The required coating system, colour and sequence are defined for the order; the exact chemistry and cure method are not assumed here.

03

Finish checks

Visual appearance and agreed dimensional checks are performed after coating. Thickness or adhesion checks are included where confirmed for the order.

04

Final release

Finished parts are checked against the product and order requirements, with corrective action addressed before release when needed.

  • Colour and appearance standard
  • Coating family or customer specification
  • Surfaces to mask or keep conductive
  • Thickness, adhesion or salt-spray requirement

01

Prepare the surface

Rust, scale, oil and sharp edges affect the result. Include preparation and edge condition in the design review.

02

Design for masking and handling

Threads, bores, contact faces and hanging or racking points need practical access during coating.

03

Sequence around fabrication

Cutting, bending and welding normally precede the final finish. The route is confirmed from the actual part and coating system.

Coating FAQ

Do you operate your own coating line?

The documented spray-coating line and Q378 shot-blasting machines are at our affiliated Taixing production base. We do not present that base as our own Ningbo facility.

Is the Taixing line powder coating or liquid spray painting?

The current capability record identifies a spray-coating line but does not confirm one universal coating chemistry. The required coating system is confirmed per order.

What is shot blasting used for?

Shot blasting can remove scale or contamination and create a prepared surface profile before coating, subject to the material and specified route.

Which products have a powder-coating option?

Current product specifications document powder-coating options for selected clevis, hex-tube, round-tube and stabilizer-bar products. This is product-level finish evidence, not a claim that every item is processed at Taixing.

Can coating be applied after welding?

Yes, coating commonly follows cutting, forming and welding so the complete fabricated surface can be prepared and finished. The sequence is confirmed from the drawing.

Can you control coating thickness?

Thickness requirements and any measurement method are agreed for the order. The page does not publish one universal range for every coating system.

What should I send for a coating quote?

Send the substrate, environment, colour, coating specification, masking requirements, drawing and any thickness, adhesion or corrosion-testing requirement.

Can you coat aluminium as well as steel?

Aluminium and steel can use different surface-preparation and coating routes. We will confirm the suitable process from the material and service environment.
