Overview

JACK SCREW JSI Product Overview

JSI-7-37 / JSX-7-37 is a male-male inch jack screw adjuster with 7/16-20 threads at both ends. Thread length = 1.375″, hex size = 0.688″ across flats, total length = 3.688″, hex height = 0.438″.

The JSI (carbon steel, zinc plated) and JSX (4130 chromoly steel) jack screws thread into rod end bodies at both ends with a central hex for length adjustment. One end has right-hand thread; the other is left-hand — turning the hex extends or shortens the assembly without removing either end. Used in toe links, push rods, throttle rods, and any linkage requiring fine-increment length adjustment without disassembly.

Carbon steel version: JSI-7-37. 4130 chromoly version: JSX-7-37. Special lengths and thread combinations available in volume. Metric equivalent is the JSIM series.

Quality Control

Every Unit Inspected Before Shipment

🔩

Raw Material Inspection

Material certifications verified. Composition confirmed by spectrometer before machining begins.

🔍

Thread Gauge Inspection

100% go/no-go gauge check on all threaded sections. Zero tolerance on dimensional non-conformance.

⚖️

Load Capacity Test

Static and dynamic load tests run on representative samples from each production batch.

📏

Dimensional Measurement

CMM verification of critical dimensions — ball diameter, bore, thread pitch, and body length.

🔬

Surface Inspection

Visual and tactile inspection for burrs, scratches, surface cracks, and plating defects.

🔄

Articulation Test

Misalignment angle and torque measured to confirm liner performance meets specification.

🏆

Heat Treatment Verify

Hardness tests confirm proper heat treatment on chromoly steel bodies and bearing balls.

📋

Batch Documentation

Full traceability from raw material heat number to finished part. COC and inspection reports available.

Applications

Where JACK SCREW JSI Are Used

Adjustable Chassis and Linkage Geometry

Jack screws provide a compact threaded method to set position, spacing, or preload in fabricated chassis and linkage assemblies. Use matched threads and maintain adequate engagement through the adjustment range.

Fixture and Machine Alignment

The adjuster format is useful for leveling, aligning, or positioning machine fixtures, brackets, and actuator supports before locking the final setting. Check access, axial force, and the load path through the support.

Serviceable Fabrication Assemblies

Jack screws can replace improvised shims in custom fabrication by providing controlled mechanical adjustment. Validate thread strength, lockout method, and resistance to vibration for the complete assembly.

Motorsport Chassis Setup

Used in motorsport chassis and fabricated control systems that need fine adjustment and durable steel or chromoly hardware.

OEM Adjuster Supply

A good choice for OEM supply programs standardizing on inch male-male threaded adjusters across multiple sizes.

Fabricated Control Assemblies

Useful in fabricated control assemblies where packaged hex size, total length, and thread engagement need to be consistent.

FAQ

JACK SCREW JSI Frequently Asked Questions

What is the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37 jack screw used for?

The JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37 is a male-male inch jack screw adjuster with 7/16-20 threads at both ends, used in toe links, push rods, throttle rods, and other linkage assemblies that need fine-increment length adjustment without disassembly.

Does the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37 use the same thread size on both ends?

Yes, both ends are threaded 7/16-20, but one end is right-hand and the other is left-hand — turning the central hex extends or shortens the assembly without unthreading either end, the same way a turnbuckle works.

What are the length and hex dimensions of the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37?

Thread length is 1.375 in per end, hex size is 0.688 in across flats, hex height is 0.438 in, and overall total length is 3.688 in.

What materials is the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37 jack screw available in?

The JSI-7-37 is carbon steel, zinc plated, and the JSX-7-37 is 4130 chromoly steel — same dimensions, two base-material options for this size.

How do I adjust length with the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37 jack screw installed?

Thread the mating rod ends into the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37 until you're close to your target length, then rotate the central hex — because one end is right-hand and the other left-hand, this draws both rod ends in or pushes them out together without unthreading either side.

Is a metric version or custom length available for the JSI-7-37/JSX-7-37?

Yes. The JSIM series is the metric equivalent of this inch jack screw, and SYZ can produce special lengths and thread combinations in volume — confirm your target thread size and total length when requesting a quote.
