PM PF Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between PM and PF rod ends?
PM parts are male-thread rod ends and PF parts are female-thread rod ends. Both belong to the same precision molded-race self-lubricating series and share the same core material direction.
What materials are used in the PM-PF series?
This series uses a hard-chrome-plated 52100 bearing steel ball, an injection molded nylon race, and a carbon steel body with yellow zinc plating.
Is the PM-PF series self-lubricating?
Yes. The molded nylon race provides self-lubricating operation, which is one of the defining characteristics of the PM-PF series.
Are studded versions available in the PM-PF series?
Yes. Studded configurations are available by adding S to the suffix, such as PMR12-S, depending on the exact size and build requirement.
Are silver zinc plated versions available?
Yes. In addition to the standard yellow zinc plated body, this series is also available in silver zinc plating as noted in the product notes.
What applications are best suited to PM-PF rod ends?
PM-PF rod ends are well suited to control linkages, packaging machinery, agricultural equipment, general mechanical assemblies, and other lighter-duty systems that benefit from a self-lubricating molded-race design.
