Overview

ROD END STUD Product Overview

This rod end stud fits rod ends with 1/4″ bore and uses a 1/4-28 stud thread. Stud length (L) = 1.031″, shoulder length (N) = 0.562″, shoulder diameter (M) = 0.5″.

Rod end studs allow a rod end to be installed in a plain (non-threaded) bore using a nut to secure the assembly, instead of threading the rod end shank directly into a housing. The stud presses or threads into the rod end body and extends on both sides to provide a pivot pin. Used when the mounting geometry requires a stud rather than a threaded shank, or when mounting two rod ends back-to-back through a common bracket.

Available in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. Right-hand thread standard; left-hand (SL suffix) available. Heat-treated alloy steel (SX suffix) available for high-load applications. To order a rod end with stud pre-installed, add ‘S’ to the rod end part number suffix.

Every Unit Inspected Before Shipment

🔩

Raw Material Inspection

Material certifications verified. Composition confirmed by spectrometer before machining begins.

🔍

Thread Gauge Inspection

100% go/no-go gauge check on all threaded sections. Zero tolerance on dimensional non-conformance.

⚖️

Load Capacity Test

Static and dynamic load tests run on representative samples from each production batch.

📏

Dimensional Measurement

CMM verification of critical dimensions — ball diameter, bore, thread pitch, and body length.

🔬

Surface Inspection

Visual and tactile inspection for burrs, scratches, surface cracks, and plating defects.

🔄

Articulation Test

Misalignment angle and torque measured to confirm liner performance meets specification.

🏆

Heat Treatment Verify

Hardness tests confirm proper heat treatment on chromoly steel bodies and bearing balls.

📋

Batch Documentation

Full traceability from raw material heat number to finished part. COC and inspection reports available.

Applications

Where ROD END STUD Are Used

Threaded Rod-End Connections

Rod-end studs provide a threaded interface between a spherical rod end and a bracket, tube, or linkage member. Match bore, thread class, engagement, and shoulder dimensions to the rod end.

Steering and Suspension Hardware

Studs are used in custom tie rods, control arms, and suspension assemblies where a compact threaded connection is required. Check fastener orientation, bending exposure, and spacer stack-up.

Industrial Actuator and Control Assemblies

The same interface can connect rod ends to machine levers and actuator brackets. Select material and surface treatment for load, vibration, moisture, and service conditions.

Fabricated Joint Assemblies

Supports fabricated joint assemblies where mounting orientation and replacement hardware flexibility are important.

Custom Rod End Packaging

Studs help adapt rod ends into custom bracket, linkage, and serviceable joint layouts across multiple bore sizes.

General Industrial Mounting Hardware

Suitable for industrial rod end hardware packages where material, thread direction, and mounting clearance must be controlled.

FAQ

ROD END STUD Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 1/4 Rod End Stud used for?

The 1/4 Rod End Stud fits rod ends with a 1/4" bore and lets that rod end be installed in a plain (non-threaded) bore using a nut, instead of threading the rod end shank directly into a housing — the stud presses or threads into the rod end body and extends on both sides to form a pivot pin.

What thread does the 1/4 Rod End Stud use?

The 1/4 Rod End Stud uses a 1/4-28 stud thread, matching the 1/4" bore rod end it's designed for.

What are the length and shoulder dimensions of the 1/4 Rod End Stud?

Stud length (L) is 1.031", shoulder length (N) is 0.562", and shoulder diameter (M) is 0.5".

What misalignment does the 1/4 Rod End Stud allow once installed?

The rod end stud assembly allows approximately ± 25 degrees of misalignment in any direction.

What materials and thread-hand options are available for the 1/4 Rod End Stud?

Available in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. Right-hand thread is standard; left-hand is available with an 'SL' suffix, and a heat-treated alloy steel version is available with an 'SX' suffix for high-load applications.

How do I order a rod end with the 1/4 Rod End Stud pre-installed?

Add 'S' to the rod end's part number suffix to order it with the 1/4" stud pre-installed, rather than ordering the stud as a separate item.
