Overview

COM(-T) Product Overview

HCOM28(T) is a heavy-duty HCOM series spherical bearing with a 1.7500″ bore (B) and 3.1250″ OD (D). Body width (W) = 1.562″, inner race width (T) = 1.250″. Ball diameter = 2.625″. Flat OD (O) = 2.110″. Approximate weight: 1.948 lb.

Rated at 176,370 lb static radial load with ±8.0° misalignment angle. The 52100 bearing steel ball is precision ground, heat treated, and hard chrome plated. The alloy steel race is oil coated and drilled and grooved for external lubrication. PTFE liner available — add ‘T’ suffix (e.g., HCOM28T) for the PTFE-lined, self-lubricating variant. Used in industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, hydraulic cylinders, and structural pivot applications requiring high static load capacity.

PTFE-lined variant available (suffix ‘T’). Chromoly (FKS series) and stainless steel (COM-SS series) race options available. Zinc plated race option available on request. Metric equivalent is the COMA-M series.

FAQ

COM(-T) Frequently Asked Questions

What are COM and HCOM spherical bearings used for?

COM and HCOM spherical bearings are used in pivoting and articulated joints where radial load support, compact geometry, and controlled misalignment are required.

What is the difference between COM and COM-T?

COM is the metal-to-metal version, while COM-T adds a PTFE liner for applications that prefer lower-maintenance bearing operation and liner-based articulation characteristics.

What is the difference between COM and HCOM sizes?

HCOM parts are the heavier-duty members of the range, with larger outer dimensions and higher radial load capacity than the standard COM sizes.

What materials are used in the COM series spherical bearings?

The standard series uses a 52100 bearing-steel ball, an alloy-steel race, lubrication groove and hole for COM series, and optional PTFE liner depending on the suffix and variant.

Are other materials or finishes available?

Yes. Depending on the application, heat-treated Chromoly and stainless steel race options may be available, and zinc-plated race can also be specified where needed.

How do I choose the correct COM spherical bearing size?

Start with the required bore, outer diameter, width, ball size, and load requirement shown in the size chart, then confirm whether metal-to-metal or PTFE-lined construction is the better fit for the application.
