Applications

Where COMA M(-T) Metric Alloy Steel Spherical Bearings Rod Ends Are Used

Hydraulic Cylinders & Lifting Equipment

Spherical plain bearings accommodate angular misalignment and oscillating motion at cylinder eyes, lifting arms, and other pivot connections. Select the race, seals, lubrication, and load direction for the duty cycle.

Construction, Agricultural & Material-Handling Pivots

These bearings are commonly used at heavily loaded pivot points in construction, forestry, agricultural, and material-handling machinery where slow oscillation, shock, contamination, and service access influence the bearing choice.

Automotive Suspension & Structural Linkages

The spherical inner and outer surfaces support controlled angular movement in suspension links, axle connections, and fabricated mechanisms. Confirm bore fit, housing support, edge loading, and required misalignment before installation.

Industrial Machinery

Used in industrial mechanisms, fixtures, and rugged assemblies where articulated movement, radial load support, and serviceable commercial-series construction are all required.

Lubricated Bearing Positions

Chosen where groove-and-hole lubrication or zinc-plated race options help support long-term service in working industrial environments.

OEM Mechanical Assemblies

Frequently specified for OEM builds that need repeatable metric spherical-bearing geometry, commercial-series sizing, and optional PTFE-lined configurations.

FAQ

COMA M(-T) Metric Alloy Steel Spherical Bearings Frequently Asked Questions

What is the COMA-M18(T) spherical bearing used for?

The COMA-M18(T) is a metric commercial-grade spherical bearing with a 18 mm bore, used in metric-dimension industrial machinery, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment, and structural pivot assemblies.

What are the bore, OD, and width dimensions of the COMA-M18(T)?

Bore (B) is 18 mm, OD (D) is 42 mm, body width (W) is 23 mm, inner race width (T) is 16.50 mm, and ball diameter is 31.75 mm.

What static radial load and misalignment angle does the COMA-M18(T) carry?

The COMA-M18(T) is rated at 216,714 lb static radial load with ±15.0° of misalignment angle.

What's the difference between COMA-M18 and the T-suffix version?

The base COMA-M18 uses the standard grooved, oil-coated alloy steel race with lubrication holes for external grease/oil. Adding the 'T' suffix (COMA-M18T) swaps in a PTFE liner for a self-lubricating, maintenance-reduced race in the same envelope.

What material is the COMA-M18(T) made from, and are zinc-plated or stainless options available?

The ball is 52100 bearing steel, precision ground, heat treated, and hard chrome plated. The race is alloy steel, oil coated, with a zinc-plated race option and stainless steel race options both available on request.

How does the COMA-M18(T) compare to the inch-equivalent COM(-T) series?

The COMA-M18(T) is the metric member of this bearing family; the COM(-T) series is its inch-dimension equivalent, sized in fractional-inch bore rather than metric bore/OD — choose based on your unit system.
