Overview

XM C Extended-Shank Chromoly Steel Rod Ends Product Overview

XMR12-C / XML12-C features a 0.7500″ bore (B) and 1.750″ body diameter (D), with a 1.312″ precision-ground 52100 steel ball running in a reinforced nylon/PTFE race. Overall body length (AM) is 5.04″, with an extended shank engagement depth (D) of 3.94″. Width (W) is 0.875″ and body thickness (T) is 0.687″. Approximate weight: 0.835 lbs.

Designed with an extra-long shank for deeper tie-rod thread engagement, this rod end with a 3/4-16 UNF 3A external thread accommodates ±14° misalignment and suits truck steering, maximum-load suspension, and extreme-duty assemblies requiring deep thread engagement. The 4130 chromoly steel body is heat treated and hard chrome plated for superior strength-to-weight ratio; the reinforced nylon/PTFE race is self-lubricating and self-sealing, requiring no maintenance.

Available in right-hand (XMR12-C) and left-hand (XML12-C) thread configurations. The extended shank (C designation) provides additional engagement depth compared to standard JMX rod ends, making it ideal for replacement applications where increased thread depth is required. Body is 4130 chromoly steel, heat treated and hard chrome plated.

Applications

Where XM C Extended-Shank Chromoly Steel Rod Ends Rod Ends Are Used

Steering, Suspension & Chassis Linkages

chromoly/alloy-steel rod ends provide an adjustable articulated connection for control arms, tie rods, sway-bar links, and other force-transmitting members. Check radial load, angular travel, thread engagement, and race design before use.

Actuator and Control Linkages

The threaded male or female format can connect rods, brackets, hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders, and compact actuator mechanisms. Match thread direction, bore size, and mounting geometry to the complete linkage.

Motorsport, Agricultural & Industrial Fabrication

These rod ends are used in serviceable vehicle and machine linkages where alignment changes during travel. Aluminum favors low weight, while steel variants suit higher-duty assemblies; final selection should follow the actual load, motion, and environment.

Agricultural Control Arms

A practical option for agricultural linkages that need durable chromoly rod ends with longer shank reach and self-lubricating articulation.

Industrial Motion Links

Suitable for industrial motion transfer systems where stronger threaded sections and longer installed length are required in compact pivots.

Performance OEM Assemblies

A good series for OEM and custom assemblies that need long-stem chromoly rod ends with reliable articulation and consistent finish quality.

FAQ

XM C Extended-Shank Chromoly Steel Rod Ends Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the XM-C series different from standard XM rod ends?

The XM-C series uses an extra-long stem layout that gives more thread engagement and adjustment length than a standard XM rod end, while keeping the same heavy-duty chromoly construction direction.

What materials are used in the XM-C series?

XM-C rod ends use a hard-chrome-plated 52100 bearing steel ball, an injection-molded reinforced nylon race with PTFE, and a 4130 chromoly steel body that is heat treated and hard chrome plated.

What applications are best suited to XM-C rod ends?

XM-C rod ends are well suited to custom suspension links, steering systems, agricultural control arms, fabricated chassis assemblies, and industrial motion links that benefit from extra stem length and stronger chromoly construction.

Why choose an extended shank rod end?

An extended shank design gives more usable thread engagement and more installed length flexibility, which is helpful when builders need geometry correction, stronger adjustment range, or deeper threaded support in a linkage.

Is the XM-C series self-lubricating?

Yes. The series uses an injection-molded reinforced nylon race with PTFE, giving a self-lubricating and self-sealing construction suitable for repeated articulation.

Can XM-C rod ends be used in heavy-duty custom builds?

Yes. XM-C rod ends are intended for heavier-duty custom and industrial linkage use where long-stem geometry, chromoly strength, and dependable articulation are required together.
